2023.06 Invited to participate in the 2023 International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) conference in Boston, USA, delivering a presentation on the establishment of experimental models for X-linked juvenile retinoschisis (XLRS), a hereditary retinal disease.
2023.04 Delivered a speech on the latest advancements in the fields of cell therapy and extracellular vesicles at the “2023 International Summit on Cutting-edge Cell Therapy and Exosomes,” held at Taipei Veterans General Hospital.

2022.11 At the International Summit on Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Automation, Professor Chiou shared the latest developments and research findings in regenerative medicine and automation technology.
2022.09 Professor Chiou conducted a “Cross-disciplinary Talent Training Program in Biomedical Healthcare” at the National Health Research Institutes to cultivate talents meeting the demand of our country’s precision health industry. During the program, he engaged in discussions with other experts and participants about their perspectives and expectations regarding precision medicine.
2022.09 At the 13th Asian Cellular Therapy Conference, Professor Chiou shared the successful execution of the first clinical trial utilizing autologous iPSC-derived retinal pigment epithelial cells for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Additionally, he collaborated with Professor Chia-Ching Chang from the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology at National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University to apply CRISPR/Cas9 therapy for congenital retinoschisis.
2021.12 Invited to speak at the “2021 APEC Sustainable Investment and Precision Health Seminar” organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Professor Chiou shared Taiwan’s advantages in the fields of cell therapy and regenerative medicine industry. These include abundant clinical resources, rigorous regulatory framework, active academic research, diverse industry chains, and proactive government support.
2021.12 Invited to speak at the “2021 International Summit on Regenerative Medicine and Gene Therapy,” Professor Chiou shared his collaboration with Professor Masayo Takahashi from the RIKEN Institute in Japan. Together, they differentiated iPSCs into retinal ganglion cells and transplanted them into the eyes of mice with optic nerve disorders. Furthermore, they successfully established connections between transplanted cells and bipolar cells within the mice’s retinal ganglion cell layer, representing a significant leap forward in translational/regenerative medicine.
2020.08 Delivered a speech at the Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital on “Preventive Medicine and Research Development Post-COVID-19 Era,” where Professor Chiou delved into the significance of preventive medicine in the post-pandemic era and discussed the directions for related research and development.
2019.07 Participated as a keynote speaker and special lecturer at the 2nd Annual Conference on Medicine and Health Sciences hosted by Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) in Malaysia in 2019. Professor Chiou shared insights on the development of cellular reprogramming and iPSC technology in personalized medicine platforms.
